Our client is a leading international mining group. Major products include aluminum, copper, diamonds, energy, gold and industrial minerals.

An opportunity exists for an Environmental Superintendent to join this prestigious company at their project in Guinea. The role will provide strong leadership and sound technical advice to the operations teams and environment team, ensuring the project meets standards and values.

The Role:
- Provide demonstrated leadership and commitment to environmental standards and values
- Lead a team of approximately 25 people providing a strong emphasis on capacity building
- Development, implementation and maintenance of site specific and generic HSEC management systems
- Provide advice and support to operations and construction teams on technical environmental issues
- Developing seed collection, propagation and rehabilitation programmes
- Promote proactive environmental awareness and behavioral initiatives for the project
- Ensure environmental issues are identified and addressed through controls, training and improvement programmes
- Facilitate the investigation of environmental incidents and implementation of corrective and preventative actions
- Monitor site performance and compliance through inspections, audits and reporting
- Support various longer term studies for the project

Requirements:
- Degree qualification in Environmental Science or similar, or significant relevant experience
- Experience with ISO 14001 preferable
- Demonstrated previous expertise within disciplines of environmental management
- Ability to manage effectively in a multi-nationality, multi-cultural environment
- Experience of working in a developing country would be an advantage
- Excellent leadership and team building attributes
- Ability to handle complexity and problem solve
- Fluency in French is essential, French is a significant plus.
